When am I needed?
Usually every year for the primary in May (except when Presidential primary is in March), and the general election in November (first Tuesday after the first Monday). 

Hours: 6:00 a.m. until all precinct work is completed (approximately 8:00 p.m.)

Why am I needed?
Marion County employees more than 360 poll workers to conduct an election.  We need you help to make this possible.

How may I qualify?

  • A registered voter in Marion County.

  • Voted as a Democrat or Republican at a primary election.

  • Enjoy working with the public.

  • Complete application with the Marion County Board of Elections.

What do I have to do?

  • Report for work at 6:00 a.m. on Election Day

  • Set up voting equipment

  • Process voters

  • Demonstrate voting procedures to voters

  • Certify work done at precinct

  • Attend training sessions

What training is needed?
Attend an instruction class once every two or three years.  Sessions are usually held in October and April.

Where will I work?
When possible, in you own precinct, however you may be needed in a precinct other than you own.
